SNK 2009/10 Roma Win Their Group at the EDP Summer Sizzler

The 2009/10 SNK Roma Girls won their group and went undefeated at the EDP Summer Sizzler Tournament over the weekend against FC Berna Legacy (NJ). The girls played Berna on the first day of the tournament and came out with a draw after a fantastic finish from Isabella Klich, over the keeper to the far post to level the score at 1 - 1. The second match on Saturday was a 2 - 1 win against AC Inspire (PAE), with an Ella Idalski brace, this time coming from a corner and striking the bar and going in, to secure the win. Roma played their final group match on Sunday, July 28th, against Silver Lake Soccer Academy (NYE) and recorded another 2 - 1 victory to top their group with 7 points thanks to goals from Stephanie Meier and Ella Idalski.

Later that day, Roma once again faced FC Berna. Yet another close, hard fought game ended in penalties. Summer Scholmann, Sara Fox and Riley Cullen all converted from the spot to give Roma the advantage. Goalkeeper Amelia Martinez faced Berna’s final shooter and dove left, stopping the shot and winning the shootout to be crowned as U15 Champions!

All of the hard work has paid off for the players, some who have been with Roma from the start, and some who joined this year, and Coaches Oscar Viteri and Rob Grosso who have seen this team grow, going through peaks and valleys and now seeing them crowned as champions in one of the most competitive tournaments in the area.
